This is the thesis project that I developed for my MA in Interactive Media that was to develop an environment for children to create computer games as a learning experience in the classroom. The model developed was an adapted LEGO baseplate capable of mapping real-world constructions to a game environment.
Also here are the notes to two presentations made in its advance that relate to what my research interests were and how they were developed over time. The first of these, presented on the 28th of March 2002, was made in collaboration with Ruairi Collins and was presented as a Flash movie exploring new ideas of creating narratives digitally. The second is far more intimately knotted to the finished proposal text, being made on the 15 of May, a week prior to the formal proposal being submitted, and is available here as PowerPoint presentation.
The project was exhibited at the DAWN'02 digital arts exhibition and a video clip of that demonstration is available, as well as other clips showing the project's development, in MPEG, RealMedia and Windows Media formats. A Windows version of a demonstration game made using the system is also available to download.
